Some Wonderful Tips for Self-Improvement/Self-Transformation

Everyone wants to look good from the outside and remain peaceful from the inside. However former is easier than latter. But we mustn’t lose hope as there are ways that can make the life better from inside too with just a little but constant effort. Another point is that self-improvement is not striving for self-importance. Rather it starts with the destruction of old self which means destruction of negative or unhealthy attitudes/habits and learning new/positive behaviours/skills so that we as well as others feel better than ever.

Below are some simple tips that can help you towards the achievement of this goal:

I) Practice patience

It is one of the most fundamental ingredients of the successful formula to bring positive change. You know that it takes time for fruit to ripe and be full of taste and if you pick it up before it is ripe you must have a bitter taste. Impatient people are always complaining because of deficient efforts and, hence, deficient results.

The lesser the patience, the lesser you learn because you see less, you listen less, you feel less, you observe less, and ultimately you deprive yourself of the perfect moment when it is near.

II) Choose to do what you love and not what other people want you to:

And for this you will, once again, need patience as walking on the beaten track is easier and also entails no thinking and creativity. Thus doing the bidding of others may bring you something to do but not really worthwhile to do. Moreover, if you don’t love what you do, or don’t do what you love you can never be free.

So listen to your heart, instead of listening to the opinions of other people who surely want to use you for their own vested interests. Do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally and, then, it is also the best way to relax. Thus if you don’t love what you are doing and can’t give it your best, get out of it. Life is not boring and exhausting drudgery, it is a great adventure before you lose your esteem and become another dud. And then Maya Angelou said:

This is also the only way to do the real thing.

III) Stop comparing yourself to others:

Comparing yourself to others is one of the sickest behaviours and is a constant sucker that always leaves you restless and unsatisfied and makes you keep running like a race horse. You are never never going to have a feelings of accomplishment and also always remain clueless. Remember that everyone of us is unique like our thumb impressions and we all have signatures of our own. As soon as you stop comparing yourself to others, your start creating your own personal signatures.

Until you are in a race you can not exhaust yourself and can know your true destiny. Stop comparing yourself to others, because you will always come up short. And the moment you stop comparing yourself to others, you are the winner. According to Betty Jamie Chung, comparisons with myself brings improvements, comparisons with others brings discontent.

IV) Always be willing to help others:

It pays dividends. It is not just a teamwork or a corporate buzzword, the concept of help and exchange has been prevalent right from the time of barter.

Actually helping others is helping yourself. There are numerous studies in psychology that demonstrate people feeling happier and better about themselves when they have helped some other person. Although we can live like Robinson Crusoe but it will be very much a miserable living.

Helping others also helps ease depression. A depressed person is, usually self centered. Remember that the only difference between the hell and heaven is not that of the climate and the company but also that of attitude and willingness to help others.

In the hell, people are selfish and trying to feed themselves without helping each other and so are very much frustrated because they are unable to feed themselves on their own. While in the heaven they are feeding each other and are happy. It means that you don’t lose when you help others but vice versa.

V) And last, but not the least, keep smiling in spite of all odds:

This is the best thing that one can do when all odds seem to be going against. Remember that smile is the most powerful magnet that attracts and defuses energy. It is like a bright winter sun and nothing reduces the odds against you like ignoring them and keep smiling.

And one last word: pay more attention to nourishment of your soul than just to your body.

Remember that wisdom is better than appearance. Reading takes us to places where even a jet plane can’t reach.
